Tingsha, Om Mani Padme Hum

Tingsha, Om Mani Padme Hum

Size 7 cm

These tingsha, or meditation bells, are in the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. They are embossed with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, which loosely translates "Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus Blossom". It is the mantra of Avalokitesvara, the Tibetan deity of compassion, who is available to all who seek him.

Tingsha are used on home altars or in the garden, in yoga studios, churches or schools. Their beautifully matched harmonic tones help entrain the brain into a meditative, peaceful state. Tingsha are often rung to call attention to the present moment, fixing it in the mind and body with the sound. Bells are often rung to clear space of negative influences. Therapists use tingsha, singing bowls, and other bells to bring relief to the sick in hospitals and clinics.

Our tingsha are hand-cast in the traditional manner by Tibetans who have specialized in making beautiful bells for decades. The bell metal is the finest quality available. The sounds are perfectly matched.
